Power of Motherhood (Oct 10, 2018)

Scriptures have given extra-ordinary rights to women as mother.

“sahastram to pitrunmaataa gourvenaatirichyate”
(Manusmruti 2/145)

Mothers is ranked thousand times more than father.
“Sarvavandhyena yatinaa prasoorvandhyaa prayantah ||”
(Skandapuran kaashi  11/50)

“All prostrate in front of a Sanyaasi (ascetic),  but he too must prostrate before his mother.”

Nowadays, there are tests taking place after pregnancy, to determine the sex of the child, and if the child is of the female sex, then an abortion is induced, now tell me, is this truly equal rights for women?

The feelings that arise on saying the word “Maa,”  such feelings do not arise on using the word “woman”.  Therefore Shri Shankracharyaji Maharaj calls out to Lord Krishna as “Maa”  –
“Maatah Krishnaabhidhaane”  (Prabodh. 244).

The Upanishads, first and foremost say serve the mother,
“Maatru devo bhava, Pitrudevobhava.”

Even in Vande Maataram it is singing the glories of mother. In the hindu dharma, there is great importance and significance to the worship of the power of mother.  Even among the five demi-gods there is a place for the power of mother (Bhagawati).    Devi Bhagwat, Durga Saptashati etc and in various holy books are based on the power of mother.  All the women on earth are seen in the form of power of mother –
“vidyaah samastaastav devi bhedaah
Striyah samastaah sakalaa jagatsu |
(Durgaasaptashati 11/6)

However, what would those pleasure seekers understand about this?  They simply cannot understand.  They only see women as objects of pleasure and enjoyment.
