This is a very significant and useful point, by which one can advance very quickly. The glories of Divine Name recitation (naam japa) that can be realized by actually doing japa, is not understood by reading, saying or hearing about it. The relish of a satisfying meal are not understood by talking about the meal, rather by actually eating it. Laddoos (also called ‘modak’, sweets) look good, but any amount of talking and looking at it it, will not be the same as actually eating it.
It is our visible and evidential experience that this world is ever changing . Even that too you do not believe? What to do? See your body and my body, how much it has changed? And it is continuing to change. Someone who had seen me in childhood and sees me now, they cannot even recognize. That much the body has changed, and it continues to keep changing. This world is changing constantly, every moment. Changeable is another name for the world. It is only a storehouse of changes. Those changes itself are called life. The point is that there is not a moment that it is not changing .
You are comfortably sitting free of concern! It is a surprising thing! There is no certainty of even a single moment. One does not know when the last breath will be. There is no certainty that the breath that is leaving this body, will return again. There is no confidence whatsoever in the returning breath. Simply speaking, there is no guarantee. This body will not remain. It cannot remain. It is going away. It is only a delusion that we think we are living. It is completely false, death is taking place every moment. You don’t pay attention to this. Every moment the dying is happening. You think it is secure. There is no attention given to this point. We talk about it, we hear about it, but there is no awareness in this flow. You consider yourself to be stable and unchanging, it is a surprising thing !
You have accumulated wealth, by lying, cheating, dishonesty, deceit, being unscrupulous. For sense enjoyments you have committed so many sins, done so much injustice, have committed so many atrocities.
God has said in the Gita –
“Bhogaishvarya prasaktaanaam tayaapahchetasaam
Vyavasaayaatmika buddhih samaadhau ne vidhiyate.”
(Gita 2:44)
One who is attracted to enjoyment of pleasures and hoarding, that one cannot even have a firm resolve to realize God. He will be far from God Realization.
Simply speaking, as long there is desire within, as long as there is attraction and importance given to worldly things and enjoyments, till that time, however much you hear these talks, you will be unable to resolve towards God. When the objective, the goal itself is not firm, then how will God Realization be possible?
For all the mothers and sisters here today, that spend so much energy claiming your rights. It is nothing but egoism in these entitlements. There is reproach in these rights that you claim. Do you want to attain your salvation or do you want entitlements ? For all the sisters and mothers sitting here, there is greater gain in ‘Ram naam japa’ (chanting Ram Ram), than in Gayatri chanting etc. It has come in the Vishnu Puran, that in Kaliyug the women and shudra can very quickly attain salvation. It is due to egoism that you do not accept what is written in the scriptures. What entitlement do you want? You should be more focused on what will lead to your salvation and not on why is Om chanting, Gayatri chanting not prescribed for women ? Women have only one dharma, but instead you want problems by claiming entitlements. Filled with pride, many women are out there doing propaganda for abortion, equal rights, and having a guru.
You want your salvation or you want hell ? You want to roam around in 8.4 million wombs ? He who is interested in salvation, will renounce their ego. This body is a factory, a machine for making urine and feces. Now to have pride and egoism regarding this body, that I am something great ! Can you attain salvation with this ? There is no such thing that is good or bad, good use will lead to salvation, and poor use will lead to downfall. In Uttarkand there are seven questions put forth. One of those questions is – which is the rarest form of birth ? It is the human body that is the rarest form of birth. Glories of this human body are sung by many sages and saints.
Narak swarg apabarg niseni, Gyaan bairaag bhagati subh deni. (Maanas 7.120.5)
With this human body one can go to heaven, or hell, can attain knowledge, can become detached, can develop love and devotion for God. The first point being mentioned is ‘narak’ (hell). Why in the glories of this human body it is mentioned about going to hell, especially since human body is considered to be so great ? If you mis-utilize this human body, then you will most certainly go to hell. The glories are not of man or woman. A woman is called a ‘dharma patni’, one who is entitled to half the virtuous deeds of a man. What greater rights can a woman have, than ‘matrushakti’ (female power) ? Mother’s position is very high. Now what will you do by studying ‘pranav’? It is women that have raised great ‘sadhus’. It is women who have provided for us. We get our food from women. All we do is talk and we get provided food. Seriously, just do Ram Ram japa, and you will attain salvation.
How to attain Salvation ? By chanting the divine name – Ram. Pride is the cause of one’s downfall. You have not received certain entitlements, then it is the scriptures that have graced you so you don’t have to go through as much difficulty. Only pride is at the root of rights and entitlements
