Swamiji’s LETTER to Jodhpur Temple Dated 15.3.1980

॥ Śrīhariḥ ॥

Honorable…

Affectionately Ram Ram !

The thoughts expressed by His Holiness Shri Swamiji Maharaj (Swami Ramsukhdasji Maharaj) regarding the installation of his portrait in the temple of Jodhpur are being written to you under his inspiration –

‘My heart is burning at the thought of putting a picture of my unholy body of flesh and blood in the temple of Gangshyamji in Jodhpur.’  I don’t understand why you all are burning my heart? I have not hurt anyone, then why are you hurting my inner feelings? Why are you hurting me so much? I was not as much hurt by the departure of Sethji and Bhaiji as you are hurting me by putting my picture in the temple. What harm have I caused to you all? You people don’t feel pity even on a saint! What a cruel butcher you all are! Don’t kill this helpless one in this way so cruelly! Avoid this terrible sin. It is a worse sin to kill a man’s principles than to kill the man himself. Many good men gave up their lives, but did not give up their principles.

‘Whoever has secretly taken or drawn my picture has committed a very deadly sin. Why are you preparing for hell by making pictures and earning money from selling them? Why are you forming a group of infernos? What will be your condition?’ ‘muhn se khaaoge, farnee se nikalega’; ‘karahin mohabas nar agh nana. Swaarth rat parlok nasana.’ ‘I have no other power. If it exceeds, I will not come to Jodhpur.’

‘The human body is flesh and blood, it is impure. If you feed it, the food comes out in the form of stool. If you give it Ganga water, it comes out as urine. It is just a factory for making feces and urine. It is a great crime to keep a picture of such an unholy effigy of flesh and blood in the temple of God. Avoid this terrible sin by removing and destroying the picture as soon as possible. Otherwise you cannot escape grave sin, from something inauspicious. How can this benefit you all? You may hit me with shoes, you may imprison me, but get my picture removed from the temple immediately. Don’t kill my principle.

The rest is God’s grace.
