There is one exceptional point, to which spiritual aspirants pay very little attention. If one pays close attention towards it, then very quickly, immense benefit can be realized.
Aspirants have the wrong notion deeply ingrained within, that just as doing worldly work, as you keep working at it, in due time it is completed. It is not accomplished instantly ! They think that God Realization too takes place, by doing and working at it, and in due time realization will take place, but not immediately. This notion itself is cause of delay in God-realization.
Just as when a child gets after his mother, that I want a ‘laddoo’ right now, then how will the mother be able to give it to him right away, especially if the ‘laddoo’ is not already made and available ? Though mother has great affection for the child, much love, as who can be more important to a mother than her child? But then too, it will surely take time to make the ‘laddoo’.
Like wise, in all of the following, time is of the essence – if you need to go some place, or to improve something, or to change a thing. Time is a requirement. The point is that, to acquire worldly things, it takes time, but to attain God, it does not require time – it is an exceptional point.
We are all-in-all, under the shade of God, in the form of the heavenly tree. While under the shade of this heavenly tree, if we are of the belief that, after doing a lot of spiritual practices, sometime in the future, God will be realized, then as per this notion of ours, we will meet God sometime in the future. If we have such feeling that God will surely meet us now, then he will meet us now itself. God has himself said –
ye yathā māṁ prapadyante tāṁs tathaiva bhajāmyaham
(Gita 4/11)
‘Howsoever devotees approach (worship) Me, I give them shelter accordingly.’
Therefore, there is no waiting for the future in God-realization. Future is only in our feelings and sentiments.
