Parvatiji herself had placed an obstacle in the attainment of Shivaji by having the feeling that ‘only on doing austerities will I attain Shivaji’. Due to this thought, she had to undergo many austerities. On having the sentiments of doing austerities, it was only on performing austerities that she attained Shivaji. In attaining God in fact there was no delay. The moment the feeling arises that now I cannot live without God, at that very moment God is realized.
God will be attained due to certain capabilities, is an absolutely incorrect notion. It is a principle that the thing that is attained for a certain price, that thing is in fact of lesser value than the price paid for it. If a shopkeeper sells a thing for 100 rupees, then with certainty that shopkeeper has purchased that thing for lesser than Rs. 100. In the same way, if we believe that on having exceptional abilities, or spiritual practices, by performing sacrifice and doing charity by doing many great deeds God will be realized, then God would surely be worth lesser than those austerities and charities! But God is not of any lesser value than anything. Therefore he cannot be bought with any spiritual practice or money. If God can be obtained for a price, then on attaining such a God, how will we be benefited? Because we already have the more valuable things, abilities, austerities, charitable deeds etc., in our possession from before hand !
God meets us in the same way as we desire to meet Him. There were two devotees. One was a devotee of Shri Ramji, the other one was a devotee of Shri Krishna. Both of them regarded their Ishtadev as supreme. One day they both went to the forest. Over there, both the devotees began to call out to their own God. Their feeling was the of the two, the God that would appear first quickly he would be superior. Lord Krishna appear quickly, to which his devotee announced him to be superior. After sometime Lord Ram also appeared. To this his devotee said that you have made me loose. Lord Krishna arrived first, and you came much later, due to which I have been dishonored ! Lord Shri Ram asked His devotee – ‘in what form did you remember me ?’ The devotee said – ‘In your stately form as a King .’ Then Lord Ram said – ‘How can Lord Ram come without his ….. first the ride will have to be ready, then only can the KAing come!.’ when the devotee of Lord Krishna was asked, he said – ‘i remembered by Lord in the form of a cowherd boy, that he must be here somewhere in the forest grazing the cows.’ Therefore immediately on calling out to hain, he appeared.
In a full courthouse when Draupadi was disrobed by Dushasan, Draupadi called out to Lord Krishna – ‘Dwarkawasin’ (he who resides in Dwarka). There He had to go all the way to dwarka and then come to Draupadi. If Draupadi had said, come here right away, then I would appear immediately.
