When our intellect becomes dull, our tactics and our efforts all fail, at such a time genuine prayer takes place. On the other hand, when subtle pride remains due to some power and abilities etc., then genuine prayer does not takes place. When the prayers are not genuine (fake), the work will not get done.
When there is reliance on your strength, abilities, position, education, intellect, your ‘varna’ (group), stage in life, sect, or some support or the other, then neither genuine prayer will take place, nor real refuge (sharanagati) will take place. When there is reliance on one’s strength, abilities etc., there is egoism. Also, as long as there is egoism, till then genuine prayer and genuine ‘sharanagati’ (refuge in God) will not take place. Without genuine prayer and genuine refuge in God, the work will not get done.
When one experiences a total feeling of powerlessness, then genuine prayer and genuine sharanagati (refuge in God) will take place.

🍁 *विचार संजीवनी* 🍁
*अपनी बुद्धि कुंठित हो जाए, अपनी युक्तियां अपना उद्योग सब फेल हो जाए, ऐसे समय में असली प्रार्थना होती है*, नहीं तो अपने बल आदि के अभिमान का अंश रहने से नकली प्रार्थना होती है । नकली प्रार्थना से काम नहीं होता । जो लोग कहते हैं कि हमने प्रार्थना की पर कुछ नहीं हुआ तो वास्तव में उनसे असली प्रार्थना हुई ही नहीं। प्रार्थना की नहीं जाती प्रत्युत भीतर से निकलती है, अर्थात स्वतः होती है। अगर भीतर से असली प्रार्थना हो तो तत्काल काम होता है।
जब अपने बल का, योग्यता का, पद का, विद्या का, बुद्धि का, वर्ण का, आश्रम का, संप्रदाय का, कोई-न-कोई सहारा रहता है तब न तो असली प्रार्थना होती है और न असली शरणागति ही होती है। कारण कि *अपने बल योग्यता आदि का सहारा रहने से अहम बना रहता है।* जब तक अहम है, तब तक असली प्रार्थना और असली शरणागति नहीं होती। असली प्रार्थना और असली शरणागति के बिना काम नहीं होता।
अपनेमें सर्वथा निर्बलता का अनुभव हो जाए, तब असली प्रार्थना और असली शरणागति होती है।
