Our relationship with God

Our relationship with God is self-sufficient and natural.   Our affinity with the worldly objects is not natural. Mind, intellect, senses, body etc., and all objects are constantly flowing away.  We have no affinity with them. Only God is ours. A child has no qualifications, no scholarliness, no valor, etc. The only thing he has is a very close affinity with the mother, that ‘The mother is mine’.   There is immense power in this affinity (this sense of mine-ness), which can even draw God towards his devotee. It is due to this that the great devotee Prahlad was able to evoke God even from a stone –

‘Prem badoun Prahlaadhi hi ko,

jin paahantein parmeswaru kaadhe’

(Kavitawali 127)

There is constant separation taking place from the world.   Body, family, money-wealth, etc., all things were previously not there, and they will not remain later on.   All the visible is continually becoming invisible. If some object is to stay for 70 years, then on the passing of one year, it will stay for 69 more years, because it is continuously moving towards perishing.  We assume the worldly objects that will not stay with us as ours, and God which always stay with us, as not being ours, this is a very big mistake. God is present right now, and He is ours. The delay is only due to our lack of intense desire for Him.  There is no other delay in meeting Him. According to our feelings and sentiments, either we attain Him today, or we attain Him sometime in the future – after years or after many births !
