Nature of the Wise in the Gita and Importance of the Purification of Nature

||ShriHari||

(4) Nature of the wise:-  The nature of the wise is quite pure. All the wise men (enlightened liberated souls) have purity, renunciation and dispassion etc. equally but their nature and conduct can differ from one another according to their social orders, stages of life and spiritual disciplines. But this difference is not faulty because they lack evils such as attachment, aversion and pride etc. It means that even the wise enlightened souls’ performance of duty and conduct. are according to their social orders, stages of life and Spiritual disciplines.

The purpose of the description of different types of nature is that a man without finding fault with the nature of others should improve his nature. He should renounce evils and inculcate virtues carefully. He is totally free in doing do.  Sacred books, company of great souls and one’s own zeal and patience prove helpful in it.

In human life nature plays an important role. It is one’s nature which decides whether a man is good or bad, virtuous or sinful faithful or faithless, honest or dishonest and so on. Moreover he meets with an evil or a good end according to his nature.

This human life has been bestowed upon us only in order to purify our nature and we are free in it. We are not so free in becoming rich or holding high ranks as we are in purifying our nature. Therefore if a person keeps good company, studies sacred books and makes efforts to improve his nature, he can purify it very quickly and easily. On the contrary if he keeps bad company, studies worthless books and inculcates bad thoughts, his nature becomes bad.

It is only human life in which a person gets an opportunity to have discrimination, resources and power by utilizing which he can purify his nature and can become a devotee or an enlightened or a God-Realized soul.
