I thought that how can all brothers and sisters attain salvation very easily ? How can all be supremely benefited and uplifted ? So the easy path is to remember God all the time that all this is God. This is the kind of talk that will lead to salvation !
Questioner ‒ You said to consider everyone as God ‒ ‘वासुदेवः सर्वम्’, Vasudeva Sarvam, then what should a devotee regard himself to be ? Should he consider himself to be God or a servant of God ?
Swamiji ‒ You can consider yourself to be both. You may consider that all an image (swaroop) of God, therefore I too am an image of God. But until you do not have complete knowledge of this, regard your self to be a devotee, a servant of God, a seeker of truth. The point is that in fact my identity is with God only, but until this is not entirely understood, till then I am a servant of the Lord.
Questioner ‒ It has been said regarding Garudji ‒
‘तबहिं होइ सब संसय भंगा ।
जबबहु काल करिअ सतसंगा ॥’
(मानस, उत्तर॰ ६१ । २) ।
We are ordinary people. When Garudji was asked to do satsang for a long period of time, then what will be our condition ?
Swamiji ‒ If you have intense longing, then you could become sharper than even Garudji ! You cannot become sharp by Garudji’s influence and by his powers, but due to your strong spiritual inclination you can become even more brilliant than Garudji.
Question ‒ You said that God Realization can take place very quickly on having a close affinity (sense of my very own) with God, then without seeing God, how will a sense of mine-ness (apnaapan) take place ?
Swamiji ‒ I ask you that there is such a philosopher’s stone “paaras”, which on touching iron, turns it into gold, then have you ever seen that “paaras” ? You have not seen it ! Yet does the “paaras” appears pleasing or displeasing to you? God is most precious of all. There is no one who is as precious as God, there never has been, there never will be, it is not possible to be. Being able to see, to behold is not the basis inn having a sense of mine-ness (apnaapan). Sense of mine-ness does not happen by seeing, rather by accepting (believing) from within. The more superior you believe God to be, that much your soul will be drawn towards Him. If you are convinced within, that God is the greatest of all, then you will surely become committed to God, whether He is seen or unseen. Only God should appear pleasing. The extent to which worldly pleasures are appearing pleasing, that much the goodness of (the commitment to) God is less (in your heart) !
Read the stories of devotees of God, do naam japa (Divine Name repetition) and at all times, while walking-roaming, standing-sitting, pray to Him that ‘O’ Lord ! You appear pleasing (sweet) to me.
